n 1992 just out of high school Amanda Bossard started her education in marine biology at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage, Alaska. Bossard's journey to professional success began in 1999 when she was offered a position on the vessel F/V Sunset. This 65 foot vessel, which was a halibut fishing vessel, was transformed to a salmon tender by Murat Ariatn, who is a commercial fisherman for over 20 years. Bossard has been is married to Aritan and the couple has united to make their rights to the industry. They support conservative and lucrative renewable resources for seafood management. Otolith launched its direct market wholesale distributor in Philadelphia after Bossard was able to return from at home with her daughters, Bella 3 years old and Andre 1year old, to Philadelphia. Its name is an affectionate reference to her deep understanding of fish biology and her husband's long connection to the industry of seafood, often leaving them separated for five months or more as they work towards financial and environmental goals which reflect both their independence and determination to serve their communities wherever they live. Bossard along with her two children Andre 10, and Isabella 12 return every year for a visit to Southeast Alaska as deckhands to catch wild salmon in summer. Two months after fishing using hooks along with lines and a 42-foot salmon trolling machine they joined Aritan and were sold to local seafood processors.
